Ok, so I’m skipping the rest of the cruise to talk about our labor day weekend trip to Portland because it’s fresh in my mind. On Thursday, my parents helped me move into my new place in Seattle, making three trips across the bridge. Friday morning, we drove down to Portland, making our first stop at the Nike employee store, which is super sweet. Let’s just say I got a lot. Helping Oregon’s economy, right? We decided to take advantage of tax-less Oregon some more and went to the outlet stores that are just south of Portland and got even more stuff. By the time we got to the hotel, it was pretty late so we got dinner and went for a quick swim in the pool.
The next morning we headed for downtown Portland. We first stopped by Portland’s Saturday Market, which has all sorts of food and other quirky market-type things (ironic graphic tees, drug paraphernalia, recycled jewelry, etc). And then we went to the greatest thing in Portland: VOODOO DOUGHNUTS! The line wasn’t too long (maybe 30 minutes?), and the doughnuts were great. I got the grape ape, my favorite, dad got the famous bacon maple bar, and mom got the mango-tango. All of them were great. We also got a box to take to my mom’s cousin’s daughter’s house (my second cousin?), where we had a fun barbecue. We all played with baby Evan (pictured) and had a good time.
